Try your hand with this different 9 patch design which goes by amongst other names Curved 9 Patch or Improved 9 Patch.
The 9 patch can be made up with 1 centre "C" and 4 "D" pieces or use the "E" piece across the centre of the 9 patch in place of 2"D" and the "c".
This makes a lovely album style quilt with friends signing their names in the rectangular central "E" piece.
